The Preparation

Last year, we decided that we really wanted to save up for Disneyland for THIS year. So, we talked it over, and decided to make it an effort for the whole family. By doing this, we had the boys place Disney stickers all over a glass vase, which would automatically turn it into the "Disney jar" for the next 12 months. It was a magical jar to me. I could threaten to take money OUT of the jar, and the boys would instantly turn into angels... (for a moment)!
Other people had fun with it, as well. When people would come over, they felt like they needed to contribute to the jar. The kids thought that was great. Their Aunt Tami even sent them home with baggies of change when we would visit. Thanks to everyone out there that my kids hit up for their change!! It was greatly appreciated! We had fun.

Here's how it would work, the kids would have to actually do their chores, in order to earn their money for Disneyland. At the end of the week, we would count all the magnets they had earned, and that is how many coins they would get to add to the jar! They loved feeling like they had a part in earning our trip, and we loved watching them try to do as many chores as possible! It was a great learning experience for us all!
(although, I'm not sure my kids actually learned how to work hard for their money, or if you are cute enough, and nice enough, friends and family will voluntarily donate to your cause) Lol!
Oh well, whatever the lesson learned, we made it!
